Where Is Inspiration?

Where Is Inspiration?

Like most people, my life has been filled with exploration, blessings, sorrows, and moments of sheer bliss. Every day is a new adventure – and every moment is a new opportunity to find something amazing to celebrate about life. Many people have asked me where I find the inspiration for my work and for my own positive attitude about life. The good news is that it’s something you can have for yourself no matter who you are, where you are, or what you’re looking for.

The following quote is so powerful, and it sums up how I feel…

“God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.” ~ Commonly attributed to Martin Luther

When I step outside and experience nature in all its countless expressions, something flows to me and through me that turns every moment into something magical. I have always had a special relationship with nature, but as an adult I have realized how important it is to really stop, breathe, take it all in, then express gratitude and awe for it. Sitting calmly and watching the waves roll in, strolling through a forest or along a beach, watching the sun move past the horizon, or even just noticing small plants making their way through cracks on a busy sidewalk can be a revelation with unlimited power. Nature is a teacher, and it reminds us that we are surrounded by beauty, love, providence, nurturing, and protection at every step of the way.

“In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.”

~ Aristotle

One of the most heartfelt pieces of advice I can give to anyone who is going through trouble, stress, or challenges in life is to simply take a moment to just ‘be’. Step outside – go out of your way to see things you normally don’t allow yourself to see, or are normally too busy to notice. Let the breeze hold you, the ground support you, the colors heal you, the animals serenade you, and the water cleanse you. Allow the sun to warm you, the stars to bless you, and your connection to it all to awe you. Taking even just a few moments to be part of the world and let all the blessings in without fear or stress can create serious miracles in your life. No matter where you are, you are within minutes of one of the most sacred spaces in the universe – and the place where your prayers will always be heard.

There is more to gratitude and receiving blessings than just going through the actions. Take time each day to really allow yourself to enjoy what has been created here. Give yourself the gift of really┬áseeing what this world has to offer – and you may find that things in your own life start miraculously changing in small but powerful ways.

For all of the times that the waves have carried away my troubles, the breeze has lifted away my worries, the ground has supported me when I wasn’t quite able to support myself, and the colors in the world reminded me that things weren’t as black and white as they appeared to be, I am truly grateful.
